The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a murder and kidnapping. One that occurred during an armed robbery at Ikot Itienang Village in Etinan Local Government Area on July 12, 2026.
Command spokesperson DSP Timfon John confirmed the arrests, identifying two alleged members of the robbery gang as Gospel Effiong, known as Python, and Solomon Okon, known as Plane. Two additional suspects, Musa Kabiru and Victor Dickson, were arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen items connected to the crime.
During a search of Okon’s residence, police recovered a locally-made pistol with one cartridge, and a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp. Also recovered was a red cap bearing the inscription “Supreme Red Skin Confraternity.” One which investigators described as suspected to be a charm, alongside other incriminating materials.
According to John, the incident involved an armed robbery operation during which one person was murdered and a second kidnapped. The arrests came after what she described as a painstaking investigation. One that traced the suspects through intelligence gathering and community information.
All four suspects are currently in custody. The command said investigations are ongoing and that efforts to track down any fleeing accomplices continue.
John urged residents to keep providing credible and timely information to assist the police in preventing criminal activity across the state. Further reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring that criminal elements face justice.
