Ali Nuhu Is Alive and Well: Nigerian Film Corporation Debunks Death Rumors Circulating Online
The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has firmly denied and condemned recent viral claims suggesting that its Managing Director, Dr. Ali Nuhu, has passed away. The reports, which began circulating across social media platforms, have been labeled as false, misleading, and harmful by the organization.
How the Rumors Started
The unfounded speculation began when a Facebook user identified as Ifeoma Chigbo posted a video implying that the beloved Nollywood actor and filmmaker had died. In the video, she expressed hope that the tragic news was false. Shortly afterward, another misleading post surfaced online, alleging that Dr. Nuhu had lost his life in a fatal car crash—a claim that quickly gained traction among concerned fans and followers.
Official Response from the Nigerian Film Corporation
In an official statement released Monday evening, Brian Etuk, the NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, categorically refuted the reports, describing them as malicious fabrications designed to mislead the public and damage reputations.
“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director and Chief Executive, being orchestrated within the social media space,” the statement read.
“We wish to officially and unambiguously inform the general public that these claims, including videos with Dr. Nuhu’s image, are entirely false and injurious.”
Ali Nuhu Is Alive, Healthy, and On Duty
The NFC confirmed that Dr. Ali Nuhu is alive, in good health, and actively fulfilling his responsibilities as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. He was appointed to the role on February 12, 2024, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR). Since then, he has continued to champion the growth and global recognition of the Nigerian film and creative industry.
Legal Actions Underway Against Misinformation Spreaders
The Corporation also issued a stern warning to those responsible for creating and spreading the fake news, stating that appropriate legal and regulatory measures are being taken to curb this growing trend of misinformation.
“We caution the individuals behind these unscrupulous actions, including their enablers, of the serious consequences of spreading falsehoods—even if such acts seem harmless on the surface,” the NFC said.
They further reassured the public that the Corporation is actively addressing this “ugly and unacceptable conduct,” which undermines public trust and causes unnecessary alarm.
Public Support and Concern Appreciated
The Nigerian Film Corporation expressed gratitude to fans, industry stakeholders, and the general public for the outpouring of concern and support for Dr. Nuhu during this time.
“We appreciate the genuine concern shown by both the public and private sectors, and the film community at large,” the statement concluded.
