A blogger has been arraigned in Anambra State over alleged false publications involving Governor Soludo’s family.
A blogger has appeared before an Anambra State High Court over allegations of publishing false reports about the family of Governor Soludo.
The defendant was arraigned before Justice Obiora, who ordered that he be remanded at the Anambra State Correctional Centre in Amawbia pending the hearing of the case.
According to the police, the charges stem from reports published on the defendant’s blog. Authorities described the case as a serious misuse of media platforms. They said the prosecution is aimed at ensuring accountability through the judicial process.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga declined to comment in detail because the matter is already before the court. However, he urged journalists, bloggers and other media practitioners to verify information before publishing it.
Ikenga also advised the public to rely on credible sources for news. He warned that sharing false or unverified information could attract legal sanctions under existing laws.
The court is expected to continue hearing the case on a later date.
