Bahrain and Kuwait have accused Iran of launching missile and drone attacks against their territories following fresh US military strikes on Iranian targets.
Kuwait’s armed forces said its air defence systems intercepted “hostile missile and drone attacks” early Sunday. Authorities urged residents to follow safety instructions but did not immediately report casualties or damage.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as repeated Iranian aggression, calling the attacks a “flagrant violation” of the country’s sovereignty.
In Bahrain, the Defence Force said it successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian missiles and drones targeting civilian areas. Air raid sirens sounded twice as authorities instructed residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe location.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry described the attacks as a dangerous escalation, accusing Tehran of pursuing a deliberate pattern of aggression against the kingdom’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents.
The latest developments follow US airstrikes on Iranian military targets in response to an attack on a commercial cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, further raising tensions across the Gulf region.
The exchange of attacks signals a deepening regional crisis, with Gulf states urging restraint as fears of a wider conflict continue to grow.
