Two seven-year-old boys have been electrocuted in Idanre, Ondo State, after a live electric cable fell on a shop. The incident killed both children as they attempted to flee the premises.
The victims, identified as Oloyede Ayo and Clinton Koleola, were inside the shop when the live wire suddenly came down on the building. Eyewitnesses said the children panicked and tried to run out but came into contact with the fallen cable. Unfortunately, they were fatally electrocuted.
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh confirmed the deaths. Further saying that preliminary investigations indicated that a live electric cable had fallen on the shop. He added that the police command had launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
The incident threw residents of the area into shock, with the surrounding community left in grief over the loss of two young children.
