British TikTok Influencer Faces Murder Charge in Dubai

A 23-year-old British TikTok influencer is facing a murder charge in Dubai after the death of her boyfriend. Brooke George, from Gravesend, Kent, was arrested on June 22 and later charged with premeditated murder. If convicted under UAE law, she could face the death penalty. The case has attracted global attention because George insists she acted in self-defence during a violent confrontation.

According to advocacy group Detained in Dubai, George said her boyfriend became abusive during their second trip to the UAE. She claimed he punched her, took her passport, and prevented her from leaving. The group said she feared for her life when another attack allegedly happened in their apartment. “She feared for her life and, reaching for a kitchen knife within her grasp, acted in self defence,” said Radha Stirling, the group’s chief executive.

Meanwhile, George’s mother, Thereza George, said her daughter seemed different before the incident. “She was quieter and not her usual happy, cheerful self,” she said. After speaking with Brooke, she described her as “absolutely terrified.” She also claimed her daughter’s eye was badly swollen. As a result, the family remains deeply worried about her welfare and safety.

The case has also raised concerns about how George is being treated in detention. She reportedly claimed she was forced to strip naked in front of male officers. In addition, Detained in Dubai said she has not received legal representation or embassy access. The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting George and her family while staying in contact with UAE authorities.
