Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after a record-breaking campaign.
Bruno Fernandes won the Premier League Player of the Season award on Saturday after leading Manchester United to a third-place finish and Champions League qualification.
The Portuguese midfielder matched the Premier League assists record with 20 assists this season, equalling the mark previously set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes also scored eight league goals and created a league-high 132 chances during the campaign, comfortably ahead of Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who created 89 chances.
The 31-year-old beat several top contenders to the award, including Arsenal stars Gabriel, David Raya and Declan Rice, as well as Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
Earlier this month, Fernandes also won the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award and claimed Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year honour for a fifth time.
Fernandes now has the chance to break the Premier League assists record outright when Manchester United face Brighton & Hove Albion in their final game of the season.
The midfielder’s outstanding season has cemented his status as one of the Premier League’s most influential players.
