DJ Chicken Remanded in Kirikiri Prison Over Alleged Threat Against Seyi Tinubu

Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after appearing before a Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos. The social media personality is facing legal trouble over a viral video that sparked widespread reactions online. The court ordered that he remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions.

The Charges Held Against DJ Chicken

According to the charges, DJ Chicken allegedly threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu in the viral clip. He also claimed that President Bola Tinubu would not win the 2027 presidential election. As a result, prosecutors charged him with three offences. These include alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace, and making threats to kill. However, DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the charges before the court.

Meanwhile, the content creator later withdrew his earlier comments. He explained that the statements were only a joke meant to attract attention on social media. Despite the public apology, authorities arrested him and proceeded with the case. The court later granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in the same amount.

The bail conditions are strict. One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader with landed property in Lagos State. In addition, the sureties must provide three years of tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. One of the sureties must also be a blood relative. The case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026. Until then, DJ Chicken will remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre unless he fulfils all the bail requirements.

How It All Started

Recall that DJ Chicken, whose real name is Ademola Abiodun, was reportedly arrested earlier after his lawyer alleged that security operatives detained him over comments he made in a video about Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s President. According to the lawyer, he was arrested in Ikeja and taken into custody, while appealing publicly for his release. As of those reports, the allegations came primarily from his lawyer, and official authorities had not publicly provided a detailed statement confirming the reasons for the arrest.
