Nyesom Wike says Tinubu’s 2027 re-election stays on his mind as he urges Rivers voters to back the President.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says Tinubu’s 2027 re-election remains his top priority. He made this clear while seeking support for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State.
Wike spoke on Monday during town hall meetings with the Rumueme and Apara kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area. He urged Rivers residents to support Tinubu because of his administration’s appointments and projects in the state.
“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s re-election,” Wike said.
“When I am eating, I think about the president’s re-election.”
The former Rivers governor also asked residents to put political differences aside. According to him, Tinubu deserves Rivers voters’ support because his government has recognised the state. Wike believes Tinubu will have an easier 2027 election than he had in 2023.
“We should appreciate Tinubu and ensure he gets a massive number of votes. We can do it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Wike attacked several opposition figures ahead of the election. He questioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its chances in Rivers State.
The minister also mentioned former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former governor Rotimi Amaechi. He argued that the ADC would struggle to win the required 25 per cent of votes in Rivers. Wike also described Peter Obi and other opposition politicians as “unelectable.”
Finally, Wike urged his supporters to avoid internal fights and communal disputes. He warned that such issues could distract them before the 2027 election.
“What will be, will be. You don’t need to kill yourself,” he said.
“Anything that God said would be, it would be.”
Wike has made Tinubu’s 2027 re-election a major political priority. He now wants Rivers voters to support the President at the polls.
