Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, says he stands by his criticism of Governor Seyi Makinde’s handling of the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo state.

‘I stand by what I said’

Fayose said he has no reason to withdraw his earlier comments on the incident.

He maintained that Makinde failed to respond quickly enough to the crisis.

“I stand by my words,” he said.

“Makinde wasn’t proactive enough over the kidnapping of the schoolchildren.”

Says governors must act swiftly

Furthermore, Fayose said governors should demonstrate urgency whenever lives are at risk.

He argued that security challenges require immediate leadership and decisive action.

According to him, delays in responding to such incidents can worsen public anxiety.

Renews criticism of Makinde

Meanwhile, the former Ekiti governor reiterated his dissatisfaction with Makinde’s handling of the security situation.

He maintained that his remarks were based on his assessment of the governor’s response to the abduction.

“I stand by my words,” Fayose said.
