The Federal Government has launched the “Hire from Nigeria” campaign as part of efforts to create one million export-linked jobs for Nigerians.
The initiative aims to connect Nigerian professionals and service providers with employers and clients in international markets.
According to the government, the campaign will focus on Nigeria’s growing pool of skilled workers. It will also promote the export of services in areas such as technology, creative industries, professional services and other knowledge-based sectors.
FG targets one million jobs
The Federal Government said the campaign forms part of its wider plan to expand Nigeria’s participation in the global digital economy.
By connecting Nigerian talent with international opportunities, the initiative is expected to generate foreign exchange while creating more jobs for young people.
The government also wants Nigerian businesses and professionals to earn more income from clients outside the country. As a result, the campaign could help expand the country’s non-oil export base.
Campaign to promote Nigerian talent
The “Hire from Nigeria” campaign will encourage international employers to engage skilled Nigerians for remote and cross-border work.
The government believes Nigeria has a large pool of young professionals who can compete in the global labour market.
The campaign will therefore promote Nigerian talent across international platforms. It will also highlight the skills available within the country’s technology, creative and professional services sectors.
Government links initiative to economic growth
The Federal Government said the programme would support its efforts to create sustainable employment and expand economic opportunities.
Rather than relying mainly on traditional employment models, the initiative seeks to position Nigerian workers for opportunities beyond the domestic market.
The government expects the approach to increase service exports and bring more foreign earnings into Nigeria. At the same time, it could give skilled workers access to a wider range of international clients.
The “Hire from Nigeria” campaign is part of ongoing efforts to tackle unemployment and create new sources of income for Nigerians.
