Ten outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have received a total cash reward of ₦20 million for their exceptional service. The beneficiaries earned the prestigious NYSC Presidential Honours Award for their contributions during the national service programme.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced the reward through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, at a ceremony in Port Harcourt. He praised the recipients for making the state proud through their dedication and outstanding performance.
Governor applauds award recipients
Fubara described the beneficiaries as worthy ambassadors who displayed commitment, discipline and excellence throughout their service year.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting young people. According to him, the government will continue to reward excellence and encourage youths to contribute to national development.
The honoured corps members are Nwile Promise, Nwakoo Bariagara, Chika Michelle, Samyaaloh Lekia, Chuku Diana, Okulu Sarah, Nwaubochi Godswill, Wori Precious, Paola Bob-Yellowe and Gideon Nwaokugha.
NYSC coordinator welcomes gesture
The NYSC State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, commended the governor for recognising the award recipients. He said the gesture would inspire more corps members to strive for excellence during their service year.
Oleghe also reaffirmed the scheme’s commitment to partnering with the state government. He said the collaboration would help develop graduates who can make meaningful contributions to national growth.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gideon Nwaokugha thanked the government for the recognition. He promised that the recipients would continue to uphold the values that earned them the national honour.
