Fatalities and Property Damage in Abacheke
Unidentified gunmen attacked the Abacheke community on Saturday. The raid occurred in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State. At least eight people died in the violence. The victims included several security operatives. Witnesses described the scene as a war zone. Gunmen opened fire for an extended period. They also set six houses on fire. This destruction threw the entire community into panic.
Residents Flee as Tension Grips Area
Fear now grips the local residents. Many people fled their homes immediately. They fear the gunmen might return for another attack. The community remains in a state of high tension. One source noted that the attackers targeted a specific checkpoint. The gunfire lasted for some time before the attackers retreated.

The motive for the raid remains unknown. Pro-Biafra groups recently declared a sit-at-home for Biafra Day. However, no one has confirmed a link to that event.
