High Court Strikes Out 8 Charges Against Alleged Fake PFIPC DG

The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out eight criminal charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the case on Monday after the Federal Government requested its termination. However, the decision clears the way for a fresh arraignment at another court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, presented the application on behalf of the government. He explained that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file. The review reportedly revealed loopholes in the original charges filed by the Inspector-General of Police. According to Oyedepo, the alleged offences fell under the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The government also informed the court that it had filed a fresh charge against Adeyemi at the FCT High Court. Oyedepo said the authorities would arraign him again without delay. He then urged Justice Umar to strike out the existing charges in line with the law. Meanwhile, Adeyemi’s lawyer, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application. Following this, the judge granted the request and struck out the case.

Adeyemi, 38, faced trial alongside two other defendants in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025. The charges included conspiracy and forgery linked to his alleged operation of the purported agency. However, the two other defendants remain at large. Authorities identified them only as Femi, whose surname remains unknown, and Anu, also without a known surname.

With the Federal High Court case now struck out, attention shifts to the FCT High Court, where Adeyemi is expected to face fresh charges.
