Rapper Opens Up About Lifestyle Changes
Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has revealed that he spent about N340 million on weed between 2020 and 2026 before quitting smoking.
The ‘Aboki’ crooner made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Black Box X Nevon HQ podcast.
During the interview, he spoke about his health journey, celibacy, smoking addiction, and personal transformation.
Ice Prince Details Spending on Weed
According to the rapper, the N340 million covered purchases from only one dealer based in Lagos.
He explained that the amount excluded supplies from other dealers in Abuja, Jos, Ghana, and London.
“I’ve been celibate for six months, and for smoking, it’s been two months. I cut out weed and cigarettes,” he said.
“From 2020 to 2026, I spent N340 million on weed from just one dealer alone.”
The singer also admitted that he regularly bought weed for friends around him.
Rapper Says Smoking Became an Addiction
Ice Prince disclosed that he smoked two packs of cigarettes daily before quitting.
He also said he spent around N60,000 on weed every day.
“For cigarettes, I smoked two packs a day, and I stopped alcohol about a year ago when I started my weight loss journey,” he stated.
The rapper described himself as a chronic smoker and admitted that quitting cigarettes proved difficult.
However, he explained that stopping alcohol came easier because he never considered himself a heavy drinker.
Weight Loss Journey Changed His Lifestyle
Ice Prince credited music producer Chopstix for motivating him to focus on fitness and health.
According to him, Chopstix regularly visited his house to encourage evening walks.
“He started coming to my house every day around 8 p.m., and we would walk for about an hour,” he said.
The rapper added that he later continued the routine independently.
He also changed his eating habits and stopped eating late at night.
Fatherhood Changed His Perspective
Ice Prince further reflected on fatherhood and how becoming a parent reshaped his mindset.
He admitted that he initially struggled with public criticism after having his son.
The rapper recalled how social media attacks affected him during the early days of Twitter, now known as X.
He mentioned fellow artistes Wande Coal and Wizkid while discussing how the entertainment industry labelled them at the time.
“But he changed my life and made me see things differently,” Ice Prince said while speaking about his son.
He explained that fatherhood now influences his public behaviour and decisions.
Rapper Describes Celibacy as Spiritual Journey
Ice Prince also described celibacy as part of a spiritual journey.
He credited fellow rapper Phenom for inspiring the decision.
“Phenom inspired me. He used to talk about it, and I thought he was joking at first,” he said.
The rapper added that he later researched the spiritual benefits before embracing the lifestyle.
