Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has finally broken his silence following the death of his close friend, Alexx Ekubo. The actor shared an emotional 27-page tribute, opening up about their friendship and the painful reality of losing someone he called a brother. His touching message has since sparked emotional reactions from fans across social media.
According to IK, Alexx’s death changed the way he sees life. He admitted that many people believe tomorrow is guaranteed until tragedy hits close to home.
“Every day we see an ambulance drive past us. We whisper, ‘God have mercy,’ then continue with our day. Somehow, we always believe the person inside belongs to somebody else,” he wrote.
The actor added that people only understand the weight of loss when it becomes personal.
“Tomorrow is a privilege. Not a promise,” he said.
IK also remembered the beautiful dreams they shared. He revealed they often talked about growing old together, making movies, starting businesses, travelling, and raising their children.
“We truly believed we had time. Neither of us imagined one of us would leave first. Life had another plan.”
Although the pain remains, IK said he has found comfort in his faith. He also admitted there are still moments when he reaches for his phone to call Alexx before remembering he is gone. Despite the heartbreak, IK encouraged everyone to love more and delay nothing that truly matters. He urged people to appreciate loved ones while they still can.
“Love people while they can still hear you. Tell them you appreciate them while they can still smile back. Forgive quickly. Call your parents. Check on your friends.”
He ended with a powerful reminder:
“One day, every single one of us will become somebody’s memory. The only question is, what kind of memory will we become?”
For many years, IK Ogbonna, Alexx Ekubo and fashion designer Yomi Casual were known as one of Nollywood’s strongest celebrity friendships, making this loss even more heartbreaking for fan.
