Lebanon says Israeli strikes kill 18 as exchange continues

Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed at least 18 people, raising concerns over the future of a ceasefire linked to the new US-Iran agreement.

Lebanon says Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed at least 18 people and injured 33 others overnight in the southern Nabatieh district. The Israeli military said it targeted 80 Hezbollah-linked sites and claimed dozens of Hezbollah fighters were killed.

At the same time, Israel reported that four of its soldiers were killed during clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah said it attacked Israeli forces using guided missiles, rockets and artillery fire.

The renewed violence comes just one day after the United States and Iran signed a deal aimed at ending conflict across the region, including a permanent end to hostilities in Lebanon. Despite the agreement, both Israel and Hezbollah have continued exchanging attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a strong response, while international leaders urged both sides to respect the terms of the US-Iran deal and prevent further escalation.

The latest Israeli strikes in Lebanon highlight the fragile state of regional peace efforts despite renewed diplomatic agreements.
