Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has appealed for emergency assistance after encountering a serious road accident in Ogun State.
Afod said victims received no emergency response during the 20 minutes he spent at the scene.
The actor shared a video of the incident on Instagram on Friday. The crash occurred around Shapade, along the Ibadan–Shagamu Expressway.
He called on the Ogun State Government, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other emergency agencies to intervene.
Actor appeals for urgent rescue
In the video, Afod showed several people lying helplessly around the accident scene.
He expressed frustration over the absence of an ambulance and other emergency personnel.
“It’s a terrible accident we came across on the way along the Ibadan–Shagamu Expressway right now, and it’s so sad that for about 20 minutes that we’ve been here there has been no ambulance, no emergency services to come and help them,” he said.
Afod also claimed that repeated calls to emergency services had produced no response.
He urged motorists and other members of the public to help the victims.
“Nobody, we’ve been trying to call emergency workers to come and help them. See people lying down helplessly,” he said.
The actor also questioned the emergency response in Ogun State.
He warned that the victims urgently needed assistance and that every second mattered.
TRACE confirms serious crash
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed a serious single-vehicle accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The agency issued an alert on Friday through its Saapade Unit Command. Odutola Babatunde signed the notice.
TRACE said the crash had not disrupted traffic along the expressway. Its operatives continued to monitor the situation.
The agency also promised to provide further details as they emerged.
However, TRACE did not disclose the number of victims or their medical conditions.
PUNCH reported that authorities had not established the cause of the accident. Relevant emergency agencies had also not issued an official statement on the rescue response.
Afod urged the Ogun State Government, FRSC and other rescue teams to respond quickly.
