Grammy winner Lil Nas X was arrested in Los Angeles after an alleged overdose and resisting police. He remains in custody pending a court hearing.
Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) is set to spend the weekend behind bars following a bizarre and deeply concerning incident in Los Angeles. On Thursday, August 21, the rapper was spotted wandering Studio City—decked out only in white underwear, cowboy boots, and, at one point, a traffic cone atop his head—behaving erratically in the early morning hours.
Lil Nas X Arrest
What was initially a strange sight quickly escalated when he allegedly charged at LAPD officers, leading to his arrest on suspicion of battery on a police officer and being taken to a hospital amid fears of a potential overdose.
Now held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys, law enforcement has made it clear that he cannot be released on citation due to the severity of the charge, which involves obstructing or resisting officers under California Penal Code 69(a). Instead, Lil Nas X must appear before a judge on Monday, August 25, before bail or release can be considered.
This extraordinary and unsettling episode occurred just days after the singer renamed his Instagram account to ‘QUEEN MADELINE’, wiped his post history, and began teasing new visuals and music—possibly hinting at a shift into his highly anticipated second studio album, Dreamboy, slated for release later in 2025.
Earlier this year, Lil Nas X disclosed he had experienced partial paralysis on the right side of his face but reported regaining movement with physical therapy, even humorously sharing that he was instructed to chew gum to help strengthen his facial muscles.
The EP “Days Before Dreamboy”, released in March via Columbia Records, served as a prelude—featuring tracks like “Light Again!”, “Hotbox”, and “Big Dummy!”. Fans and critics alike see this as groundwork for a whole new era of artistry and bold experimentation from the boundary‑pushing rapper.
