At Least Two Killed in Shooting at Los Angeles Strip Mall Party

At least two people were killed in a shooting at a Los Angeles strip mall near California State University, Northridge, police said.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call about a large party at The Artists Lounge in the shopping complex at around 11pm on Friday, October 2. Officers heard gunshots when they arrived at the scene, according to local ABC affiliate KABC. Two people were killed in the shooting.

Authorities had not immediately confirmed whether anyone else was injured. However, footage from the scene showed officers placing several people in handcuffs and taking them away following the shooting. The police had not announced any arrests or identified a suspect as of early Saturday.

Investigators had also not released a description of a suspected shooter. The strip mall is located near Cal State Northridge, an area that includes several businesses and entertainment venues.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.
