Dana White has confirmed that Michael “Venom” Page will not be re-signing with the UFC, ending the British welterweight’s run with MMA’s top promotion after a six-fight contract concluded on Saturday night in Paris.
Page, 39, signed with the UFC in December 2023 after a successful career with Bellator. He finished his UFC stint with a 5-1 record but all five victories came via decision, and his final fight was met with audible booing from the Paris crowd.
White was characteristically blunt about the situation.
“That was his last fight on his contract. I don’t think we’re signing him, no,” he said.
“What’s the confusion? I think it’s been pretty clear that he wasn’t being re-signed and that he would be taken out of the rankings because he’s no longer on the roster.”
Page himself has acknowledged the underwhelming nature of his UFC tenure. He admitted to not delivering “what I wanted to deliver”. He had also expressed a desire to discuss his future with the promotion before White’s comments ended that conversation.
With Page now a free agent, attention has turned quickly to what comes next. Jake Paul, co-founder of boxing Most Valuable Promotions, posted on social media with characteristic timing:
“Think it’s time to bring MVP to MVP.”
A move to a rival MMA promotion such as the PFL is also a realistic option.
