Microsoft Gains $450 Billion in One Day After Massive Growth, the Biggest in Stock Market History

Microsoft has just made stock market history. The tech giant added about $450 billion to its market value in one day. That is now the biggest single-day gain ever recorded by any company. Its shares jumped 16% on Thursday. This was Microsoft’s biggest daily rise since October 2008.

The company beat Nvidia’s previous record of $440 billion. Bloomberg data showed that record came after President Donald Trump announced a 90-day tariff pause last year. The latest rally has now pushed Microsoft into a league of its own.

The huge jump followed a strong earnings report. Microsoft revealed that revenue from its Azure cloud business grew by 43% in the fourth fiscal quarter. That is the fastest growth since early 2022. Investors also welcomed the company’s decision to keep its 2026 capital spending plans unchanged. The update boosted confidence that Microsoft will continue leading the artificial intelligence race.

The numbers are even more surprising when compared with other companies. Bloomberg data showed that Microsoft’s one-day gain is bigger than the total market value of about 96% of companies in the S&P 500. It is also worth more than the combined value of the index’s 41 smallest companies, including Domino’s Pizza, Clorox Co and Hasbro.

The record-breaking increase also beats the size of several national stock markets. Countries like South Africa, Turkey, Finland and Vietnam have stock markets worth less than what Microsoft added in just one trading day.

That milestone shows how powerful the tech giant has become. It also proves that investors are betting heavily on Microsoft’s future, especially as demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence keeps growing.
