Nigerian comedian and actor Okey Bakassi has debunked viral reports claiming his wife wants a divorce.
The entertainer, whose real name is Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, described the reports as false and disrespectful. The rumours sparked attention online after a video allegedly showed him lamenting his marital troubles. However, the comedian has now set the record straight.
According to the viral video, Okey Bakassi claimed his wife wanted to end their marriage after he spent 15 years caring for her and their children in the United States. However, the comedian dismissed the claims on his social media page. He also clarified that his wife does not live in Canada or work as a nurse, contrary to reports circulating online.
Meanwhile, Okey Bakassi revealed that his marriage remains strong. He recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife in Canada. The comedian expressed disappointment over the spread of false information about his family. He urged fans, friends, and family members to ignore the rumours and report the account responsible on X for allegedly violating the platform’s rules.
Reacting to the viral story, he wrote:
“It’s so disrespectful and sad that, out of desperation to get views or create viral content, someone will go to the extent of spreading fake news about my very happy family. Please, my family, friends and fans, disregard any story that my wife and I are having issues. It’s the work of evil, senseless people. Please help me report the originator’s page for this fake news on X (Twitter) for violating the rules. My family is intact and in God’s hands”.
Okey Bakassi’s clarification has put the divorce rumours to rest, as he reassured fans that his marriage remains strong. He also urged the public to stop spreading false stories about his family.
