Nantes vs Toulouse abandoned after violent pitch invasion

Violence erupted at the Stade de la Beaujoire after supporters invaded the pitch during a Ligue 1 match in France.

A Ligue 1 match between FC Nantes and Toulouse FC was abandoned on Sunday after violent scenes broke out inside the Stade de la Beaujoire.

The game was still goalless after 22 minutes when dozens of hooded supporters breached security barriers and stormed the pitch. Fans reportedly threw flares and pyrotechnics onto the field, forcing players and officials to run to the dressing rooms for safety.

Anti-riot police entered the stadium and used force to push supporters back into the stands. Authorities later decided the match could not continue due to security concerns.

French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari condemned the violence, calling the pitch invasion “unacceptable.”

The incident has renewed concerns about hooliganism and stadium security in French football.

FC Nantes, already struggling near the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, could now face disciplinary action from football authorities following the abandoned match.
