Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has marked her third anniversary in the Senate by distributing laptops and other smart devices to selected secondary schools in Kogi Central.

The lawmaker representing the district carried out the intervention on Monday, November 2, 2026. According to a statement by her media aide, Mike Idoko, the senator visited three schools during the exercise.

They include OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School in Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede. The initiative aims to support digital learning and improve students’ access to educational resources.

Natasha Explains Purpose of Laptop Distribution

Akpoti-Uduaghan said the intervention reflects her commitment to education, youth empowerment and quality representation.

She described education as an important investment in society’s future.

“For me, the essence of representation is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate,” she said.

The senator added that the devices would give students better opportunities to learn and develop digital skills.

“These smart devices are not merely computers; they are instruments of opportunity, learning, innovation and empowerment,” she stated.

She also urged students to use the equipment effectively, embrace digital literacy and remain focused on their studies.

Furthermore, Akpoti-Uduaghan appealed to teachers and school administrators to maintain the devices properly and ensure their educational use.

Senator Highlights Other Constituency Projects

The Kogi Central lawmaker said her constituency development efforts cover several sectors. These include education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic development.

In healthcare, she has advocated for the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre in Ihima.

The proposal is contained in Senate Bill 521 and seeks to improve access to specialist medical services in Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.

Other interventions include advocacy for better roads, potable water, improved school facilities and solar-powered infrastructure.

She also listed skills acquisition programmes and support for women and young people among her constituency priorities.

At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Shehu Sule, praised the senator for extending the initiative to the school.

He described the intervention as a contribution to education and human capital development. Sule also commended her for inspiring young people, particularly girls, through her public service.

He appealed for continued collaboration between the senator and the school to expand educational opportunities for students.

The governing council chairman further disclosed that the school wanted to recognise Akpoti-Uduaghan with an award for her contributions to education and youth development.
