A navy officer, Lieutenant A.M. Yarima, survived an alleged assassination attempt on Sunday evening in Abuja. Reports indicate that unknown men trailed the officer in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates.
Lt. Yarima noticed the vehicles following him and made a quick strategic maneuver to evade them. His actions confirmed the suspected threat and helped him escape unharmed. The attempted attack sparked public concern, especially in light of recent events involving the same officer.
Navy Officer Previously Confronted Minister Wike
The incident came just days after a viral confrontation between Lt. Yarima and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. The altercation took place at a disputed land site in Gaduwa District. During the encounter, the minister verbally confronted the navy officer, who was carrying out official duties to protect the property.
Following the confrontation, the military responded by acknowledging the incident and initiating an internal investigation. Many Nigerians have since expressed concern over the officer’s safety.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the attempted attack is linked to the earlier dispute. Nigerians are awaiting further official statements as the situation unfolds.
