NDLEA operatives intercepted multiple drug consignments and arrested suspects in coordinated operations across Nigeria.
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said it arrested a 63-year-old Chinese woman at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos with 31 kilograms of cannabis concealed in two travel boxes.
The agency said the suspect was intercepted at the Terminal 2 Arrival Hall during a routine operation. In a separate case, another suspect, Prosper Afekhide, was arrested while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Milan. He was found with more than 10,000 pills of Tramadol and Tapentadol hidden inside his luggage.
NDLEA operatives also intercepted MDMA pills concealed in bicycle luggage carriers bound for the Netherlands. Also, additional Tramadol consignments hidden in soap and cream containers were traced to destinations in the United States and the United Kingdom.
The agency carried out more raids in Edo, Ekiti, Kano and Lagos states, recovering large quantities of illicit substances. In Ekiti State alone, officers seized 1,116 kilograms of skunk during a warehouse raid in Ikole-Ekiti.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa praised officers involved in the operations. He further urged commands nationwide to sustain both drug enforcement and anti-drug awareness campaigns.
