The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Congress has been summoned to an emergency meeting in Abuja. This comes amid growing concerns over recent developments within the country’s football governing body.
An invitation signed by Yakubu Sarma and addressed to members of the NFF Congress states that the meeting will examine issues surrounding the functioning of the NFF Executive Committee and its secretariat.
The meeting is scheduled for 12 noon on Thursday in Abuja. Travel and accommodation arrangements are to be communicated to participants.
Congress to Discuss NFF’s Current Situation
According to the invitation, the proposed agenda includes discussions on the “current developments” within the federation. As well as the status and functioning of its Executive Committee and secretariat.
Members are also expected to consider the implications of the recent developments for the governance, stability and independence of the NFF.
The Congress will further deliberate on “appropriate measures” available under the statutes of the NFF, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA before deciding on the way forward.
The emergency meeting is expected to bring together representatives from various constituencies that make up the NFF Congress.
