Team Nigeria has taken an early lead at the 2026 African Cycling Championships after winning 16 medals in Abuja.

Nigeria is dominating the ongoing 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Track and Track African Championships at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

After two days of competition, Team Nigeria leads the medal table with 16 medals — nine gold, five silver, and two bronze. The strong performance places Nigeria ahead of Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Algeria.

Cyclists from across Africa have gathered in Abuja for the championship, with over 100 athletes from eight countries competing in both para-track and track events.

Egypt currently sits second on the medal table with 14 medals, while Kenya occupies third place with nine medals. South Africa and Algeria complete the top five rankings.

Nigeria’s cyclists have impressed fans with their speed, endurance, and technical ability throughout the tournament. Home supporters at the velodrome have continued to cheer the team’s dominant performances.

Nigeria previously hosted the African Cycling Championships in 2021 and 2023, further strengthening its growing reputation as a major hub for cycling in Africa.

The championship continues in Abuja as athletes battle for continental glory and more medals.
