Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s record in Northern Nigeria. He said no previous Nigerian president has delivered more development projects to the region.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE Television, Sani insisted the President would receive even more votes from the region than he did in 2023. According to him,
“Let me be very frank with you. And when I talk, I talk on the basis of data and statistics. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today, I can tell you, he has done more than any leader for Northern Nigeria.
“I can tell you categorically, no president has done to the North in terms of development as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done in the last three years. And I’m speaking on the basis of data and statistics,” he said.
The governor also dismissed claims that the North has withdrawn support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
“A lot of people have come here and told you the North will not vote for Asiwaju. That is a figment of their imagination,” he said.
“I can tell you categorically, I’m the Governor of Kaduna State and I can tell you, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get more votes in 2027 than what he got.”
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today has done more than any leader for Northern Nigeria. I can tell you categorically, no president has done to the North in terms of development as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done in the last three years.”
Sani said his confidence is based on projects already being executed across the North. He pointed to the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, saying the Federal Government has paid over N600 billion out of the project’s N750 billion cost. He added that the road should be ready for commissioning by November.
“I’m following the project personally… President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already paid the contractors over N600 billion from about N750 billion of the project to complete the road by November,” he said.
The governor also mentioned the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road. He explained that the road had been abandoned for over 25 years before Tinubu approved funding for its construction. According to him, part of the N178 billion contract has already been released.
The governor also praised the Federal Government’s support for agriculture. He said Kaduna has benefited from fertiliser distribution and other interventions. These efforts, he noted, have strengthened the state’s agricultural sector. Sani also credited Tinubu for supporting Kaduna’s participation in the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme.
In addition, he listed the approval of a Federal University of Science and Technology in Southern Kaduna and the upgrade of a state hospital to a Federal Medical Centre. He also revealed that the Federal Executive Council approved N1 trillion for the Kaduna Light Rail project after feasibility studies were completed.
Despite growing political debates ahead of 2027, Sani believes Tinubu remains popular across Northern Nigeria. According to the governor, the ongoing road, healthcare, education and agriculture projects show the Federal Government’s commitment to improving lives across the North.
