No NERD clearance, no NYSC mobilisation, scheme warns prospective corps members

No NERD clearance, no NYSC mobilisation, scheme warns prospective corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has directed all prospective corps members to obtain clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) before they can participate in the mobilisation exercise. The scheme said the requirement is now compulsory. It also urged prospective corps members to complete the process early to avoid delays.

NYSC issues fresh directive

In a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, the NYSC warned that no prospective corps member would be mobilised without NERD clearance. The scheme advised eligible graduates to complete the verification process as soon as possible.

“This is to inform PCMs (Prospective Corps Members) that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation.”

The NYSC repeated that the requirement applies to every prospective corps member.

“NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!”

Mobilisation exercise underway

Although the scheme did not explain how prospective corps members can obtain the clearance, the directive points to a stricter verification process ahead of the next orientation exercise. The announcement also comes as the NYSC prepares to mobilise another batch of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year. Earlier, the scheme urged tertiary institutions and eligible graduates to complete all required documentation before the orientation programme begins.

NYSC repeats travel advisory

The latest directive follows another advisory issued by the NYSC on the safety of prospective corps members travelling to orientation camps. The scheme warned them against travelling at night because of the security risks on major highways. Instead, it advised prospective corps members to break their journeys whenever necessary. It also urged them to lodge in safe locations or designated military and security formations before continuing their trips.

Verification now compulsory

The latest advisories reflect the NYSC’s efforts to strengthen its mobilisation process while improving the safety of prospective corps members. As mobilisation activities continue, the scheme expects every prospective corps member to complete all registration and verification requirements. This includes the newly emphasised NERD clearance before reporting to the orientation camp.
