Voters in Anambra State headed to polling units early. They exercised their rights in the gubernatorial election. Consequently, officials from INEC arrived on time. In certain locations such as Amawbia, materials arrived up to 7:34 am, hence voting commenced on time at 8:30 am, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System was functioning excellently.
Observers Give High Accolades
International observers were also at hand keeping a close watch on the process and rated the election peaceful and well managed.
Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke lauded INEC officials for being efficient. He however put a note of a staff member saying he was courteous and credit smooth. The International Association of World Peace Advocates did not report any case of vote buying. But at all places, they saw peaceful environments.
INEC Official Affirms Commitment
Then INEC chairman Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan spoke. He emphasized that tokens would be credible to vote. Hence such tokens would be counted in every valid ballot by the commission.
Apart from that, civil society organizations such as Yiaga Africa echoed the other praises. High readiness levels were noted, so Ms. Cynthia Mbamalu pointed out the early delivery of materials mentioned above.
User Uptake Markedly Improvements
This also has contributed positively towards turnout as compared to 2021. Residents came out responsibly, thus local leaders like Dominic Okafor commended the smooth operations.
Shedrack Azubuike also rated the organization as exemplary. In response, communities exercised their civic duties peacefully, while security forces maintained order effectively.
Results Upload Progresses Steadily
INEC has uploaded 36.99 percent of results to IReV. They have processed 2,116 out of 5,718 polling units. Counting, therefore, continued in a transparent way.
However, all these were not enough to deter candidates such as the incumbent Chukwuma Soludo of APGA from weeping for outcomes. However, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of APC claimed victory at his polling unit. Hence, Anambra came together in democratic terms through the election.
