‘Okpebholo Ole’ – Residents Chant As APC Govs Reportedly Leave Osun State

Osun residents reportedly chant “Okpebholo Ole” as APC governors leave the state, following Governor Monday Okpebholo’s comments about Ademola Adeleke.

A now-viral video captured residents celebrating as a convoy allegedly linked to the governors left the state. Some residents could be heard chanting, “Okpebholo Ole.” The phrase means “Okpebholo thief” in Yoruba. However, the video does not independently confirm who was inside the convoy.

The reaction comes amid growing political tension ahead of the Osun State governorship election results announcement. Edo State Governor recently attracted attention over comments about Osun Governor. Okpebholo criticised Adeleke for dancing before carrying out official duties.

His comments quickly sparked reactions across social media. Many people criticised the Edo governor’s remarks about Adeleke. Among those who responded was Afrobeats star , whose real name is David Adeleke. Davido appeared to hit back by sharing what was presented as Okpebholo’s alleged WAEC result.

Meanwhile, the latest viral video has added another layer to the political drama. Residents’ chants have drawn fresh attention online. The development also shows how entertainment, politics and social media continue to mix in Nigeria.

As the Osun election gradually comes to an end, comments from political figures may continue to trigger strong public reactions.
