The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has officially unveiled Senator Sharafadeen Alli as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election. The party also introduced Adesoji Adedeji as his running mate.
The unveiling ceremony took place in Ibadan. It brought together party leaders, stakeholders, candidates and supporters as the APC intensified efforts to reclaim power after eight years in opposition.
APC Calls for Unity Ahead of 2027
Speaking at the event, Oyo APC Chairman, Moses Adeyemo, urged party members to put aside their differences and embrace reconciliation.
He said the party could not afford internal divisions ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We can no longer afford internal divisions. Every member must embrace genuine reconciliation and work together for the success of our great party.”
Adeyemo described unity, discipline and grassroots mobilisation as the foundation for the party’s victory in the state.
He also appealed to residents to support President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates during the next general election. According to him, the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda continues to drive economic reforms and national development.
INEC Hands Nomination Certificate to Alli
The event also featured the presentation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination certificate to Alli.
APC Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Gbenga Olayemi, presented the certificate, marking the official start of the party’s governorship campaign in Oyo State.
Alli Describes Victory as Collective Achievement
In his acceptance speech, Alli thanked party members across Oyo State for supporting his emergence during the APC governorship primary.
He described his nomination as a victory for every member of the party.
“This is not my victory alone. It is a collective victory for our party and every member who believes in a better future for Oyo State.”
The senator also appreciated the APC National Working Committee, security agencies, women, youths, media organisations and members of the National Assembly for ensuring a peaceful and transparent primary election.
Governorship Candidate Extends Olive Branch
Alli called on fellow aspirants and aggrieved party members to forgive one another and work together ahead of the 2027 election.
He pledged to provide people-focused leadership if elected governor.
According to him, his administration will prioritise agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, job creation, accountability and social welfare.
“I appeal to everyone to embrace reconciliation and join hands as we build a stronger APC capable of winning the next governorship election.”
Party Leaders Show Support
Several APC leaders attended the ceremony to demonstrate support for the party’s governorship ticket.
Among them were Senators Ayoade Adeseun, Olufemi Lanlehin, Hosea Agboola and Yunus Akintunde.
The event also attracted the party’s three senatorial candidates, 14 House of Representatives candidates and 32 House of Assembly candidates, highlighting the APC’s determination to present a united front ahead of the 2027 polls.
