Kidnapped Oyo Schoolchildren and Teachers Rescued

Security agencies have rescued schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, according to the Presidency.

The schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped by suspected bandits in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who said the victims regained their freedom through the efforts of Nigerian security agencies.

Authorities have not yet released details about the rescue operation. Information about the victims’ condition, possible arrests, or the circumstances surrounding the operation has also not been made public.

The abduction had raised fresh concerns about insecurity and attacks on schools in parts of Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom remain a major security challenge.
