A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died.
The Orbih family announced his death in a statement on Tuesday. According to the family, Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The family described his death as a painful loss and said they accepted it as the will of God.
Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, a lawyer, signed the statement on behalf of the family.

The late PDP chieftain is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, and his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih.
His brothers, sisters and other members of the extended family also survive him.
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourn.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the statement read.
The family said it would announce the funeral arrangements later.
Orbih was a prominent PDP figure
Orbih played a prominent role in the Peoples Democratic Party and served as the party’s National Vice Chairman, South-South.
He also maintained a close political relationship with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
His death comes amid continued political activity within the PDP and the wider opposition camp ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The family has not announced the date and venue for his funeral. It urged friends and associates to respect its privacy while the family makes the necessary arrangements.
