The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects over alleged illegal firearms trafficking in Plateau State.
Police said officers recovered a Type 06 rifle, two magazines, and 29 rounds of live ammunition from one of the suspects during the operation. Investigators are continuing efforts to trace the source of the weapons and arrest other members of the suspected trafficking network.
Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah warned residents against the illegal possession, sale and use of firearms, describing the activities as a major threat to public safety and security.
The police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb the spread of illegal arms across Plateau State.
The command urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime and illegal weapons trafficking.
