The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the mob killing of two men in Bunga Hamlet, Warji Local Government Area.
The command confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.
Victims Attacked by Mob
According to the police, the incident happened on May 7, 2026, after officers received a distress call about a violent mob attack in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward.
The victims, Kabiru Idris, 30, and Ibrahim Samaila Danliti, 40, both from Gabanga Village in Warji LGA, were riding on a motorcycle when the incident occurred.
Habib said a group from Ningi Local Government Area chased the men while shouting “thieves, thieves.”
“The victims, while riding a motorcycle, were pursued by a mob from Ningi LGA shouting ‘thieves, thieves’ until they were intercepted at Bunga Hamlet and subjected to severe beating,” he stated.
The attack left both men unconscious.
Victims Confirmed Dead at Hospital
Police operatives rushed the victims to General Hospital, Warji, for treatment.
Doctors later confirmed them dead.
The command described the incident as unlawful and condemned the mob action.
Police Arrest Three Suspects
Detectives launched an investigation immediately after the attack.
Acting on intelligence, officers arrested three suspects allegedly connected to the killings.
The suspects include Samaila Turawa of Gwada, Danbaba Haruna of Gwada, and Ubale Mai Kaji of Ningi.
Habib said the suspects remain in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
He added that investigators are working to identify and arrest other fleeing members of the mob.
Commissioner Orders Full Investigation
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed a discreet investigation into the incident.
He stressed that nobody has the right to take another person’s life outside the law.
“The command will ensure that all those involved in this unlawful act are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The police also confirmed that normalcy has returned to the area.
Security patrols and community engagement activities have increased to prevent another incident.
