Security operatives have rescued the sister of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and her two children following a kidnap operation in Oyo State.
The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Police sources said the victims were freed during a rescue operation carried out on Saturday evening. Two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun battle with operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.
Mrs John-Paul, the younger sister of Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were kidnapped on June 3, 2026. This was while she was taking the boys to school in Ibadan. Investigators said intelligence gathering and sustained pressure on the kidnappers led to the successful rescue.
Police have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate, with some suspects believed to have escaped.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects and dismantle the criminal network behind the abduction.
