Air raid sirens sounded four times in Kyiv overnight.
At least three people have been killed and more than ten others injured across Ukraine in the latest wave of Russian aerial attacks, Ukrainian officials confirmed on Sunday.
In Zaporizhzhia, two people died when a Russian guided aerial bomb struck and destroyed a residential house. Regional head Ivan Fedorov confirmed the deaths. In Dnipropetrovsk, one person was killed and fourteen others wounded. In Kyiv, at least six people including a child were injured after air raid sirens sounded four times since Saturday night, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Overnight, Russian missiles and drones struck a market in the capital, triggering a fire that firefighters were still battling into Sunday morning. Ukraine said it shot down three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones during the attack.
Back and Forth
Moscow was simultaneously targeted by Ukrainian drones overnight. Sergei Sobyanin, the city’s mayor, said around 600 Ukrainian drones were launched toward the capital, with roughly a third destroyed. Three people in Russia were injured. A Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, approximately 25 kilometres from the centre of Moscow, was hit in the attack. Videos circulating online showed a large fire and a thick column of smoke rising above the facility. Wildberries, often compared to Amazon in scale, has been repeatedly struck since July. Kyiv has said it views the company’s logistics infrastructure as a supply chain asset used to equip the Russian military.
Russia has significantly intensified its aerial campaign against Ukraine in recent weeks, while Kyiv has simultaneously escalated its targeting of Russian logistics hubs and energy facilities. The pattern on both sides is consistent and deliberate. Neither country is absorbing strikes without responding.
In a development that extended the conflict beyond Ukrainian borders, Romania’s defence ministry confirmed that a Spanish F-18 fighter jet, deployed on NATO duties, shot down a drone. One that had breached Romanian airspace near the border with Ukraine and Moldova at 05:01 local time on Sunday. The drone entered from Moldovan airspace before being intercepted. Debris fell in an unpopulated area of the Galati region near the Ukrainian border, the ministry said.
Three people died in Ukraine on Sunday morning. A NATO member scrambled a fighter jet to protect its own airspace. And a warehouse near Moscow burned for the second time in weeks.
