Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has pushed back against critics questioning his bid for the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. He stated that his royal bloodline qualifies him to vie for the throne. His official declaration for the K1 De Ultimate Awujale bid was submitted in a letter dated December 3 to the Funsengbuwa Ruling House. Other contenders in the royal race include Prince Olaseni Ottun and Otunba Babatunde Alatise. Musician Traces Heritage to Two Ruling Houses K1 traced his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara line under the Funsengbuwa dynasty. He also highlighted his five decades of promoting Ijebu, Yoruba and Nigerian culture. In a video shared on YouTube, he addressed critics directly. “Those who gave birth to me know me, and I also know them. There’s no side for petty talks. I’m from a royal lineage,” he said. K1 De Ultimate Awujale Claim Backed by Recognition The Fuji star referenced the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona. He argued that the respected monarch would not have bestowed him titles such as Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu in 2023 if he lacked royal heritage. He added that both his maternal and paternal grandfathers were kings. K1 invited anyone disputing his claim to “meet at the field,” insisting that contesting the throne is his natural right. Calls for Peace Among Contenders He encouraged unity among all candidates. According to him, progress often begins with controversy. He urged the Ijebu people to remain united and support development regardless of who emerges as Awujale. K1 concluded by saying this would be his final statement on the matter.
