Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried today in Ilaro, Ogun State, after his death at 66.
Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be laid to rest today in Ilaro, Ogun State. The veteran actor died at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, aged 66. His colleague and friend, Jide Kosoko, announced the sad news. According to Kosoko, special prayers will hold at the Pavilion in Ilaro by 11 a.m. today.
“His remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State today, where special prayers will take place at the Pavilion in Ilaro tomorrow.”
News of Ogogo’s death comes after weeks of concern over his health. Recently, his colleagues, including Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Antar Laniyan and Fausat Balogun, held special prayers for him. His daughters, Kira and Lima, also made emotional appeals for medical help. They revealed that their father was battling stage 4 cancer and struggling to receive treatment. Their appeals sparked widespread concern among fans and colleagues.
Meanwhile, Senator Yayi reportedly contacted cancer specialists to assist the veteran. Ogogo was later admitted to the operating theatre for treatment. However, Yinka Quadri said many spiritual and traditional healers had also offered help.
Moving Ogogo around was difficult because of his condition. The actor had earlier spoken about battling a strange illness for seven years. In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, he recalled visiting different places for treatment. He also revealed that he could only eat pap during that period.
Ogogo’s death has left Nollywood and his many fans heartbroken. His colleagues have continued to mourn the loss of the respected Yoruba actor.
As his remains return to Ilaro today, family, friends and fans will gather to honour his memory. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.
