Nigerian singer Teni has shared details about her collaboration with music star Olamide on their joint track, Zion, which has recorded over 3.2 million YouTube views.
Speaking during an interview with Sunday Scoop, Teni described the song as a product of “destiny and fate.” She explained that the track came together during a session at Olamide’s studio.
According to her, a guitarist helped shape the sound that inspired the record.
“The song is a product of destiny and fate. Shout out to Olamide Badoo for this masterpiece because we met up in his studio, and a guitarist set the tone for the track,” she said.
Teni speaks on Olamide’s creative process
Teni said the collaboration gave her a deeper understanding of Olamide’s artistry and dedication to music.
She described the rapper as one of her idols and praised his passion for the craft.
“Working with Olamide opened my eyes to seeing how incredibly talented and great he is. His grit and passion for music inspire me,” she added.
The singer noted that the project felt natural and enjoyable rather than challenging. She also described the recording process as a fun exchange of ideas between both artists.
“It was a collaborative effort. We came together, exchanged ideas and had fun making the record,” she explained.
Funny moment during video shoot
Teni also recalled a humorous moment during the video shoot for Zion.
She said Olamide unexpectedly knelt while filming his verse, prompting her to do the same out of respect.
“During the shoot, when Olamide knelt down, I joined him immediately because he is my idol,” she said.
According to her, the video director later asked her to stand up, creating a light-hearted moment on set.
Teni said the experience reflected the admiration and respect she has for the award-winning rapper.
