‘Tinubu Has Done Far Worse Than Abacha’ – ADC Chieftain, Dele Momodu

African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu has accused President Bola Tinubu of doing worse than former military ruler Sani Abacha. He made the claim during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday. Momodu alleged that Tinubu uses pressure to keep people in line while pursuing his political ambitions.

Speaking during the interview, the media personality accused Tinubu of extending his influence across Nigeria’s major arms of government. He claimed the president has taken control of the executive, legislature and judiciary. Momodu said,

“Tinubu is doing exactly what Abacha did: coercing everyone because he wants to be President.”

He added,

“President Tinubu has done far worse than what Abacha did.”

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised Tinubu’s political priorities. Atiku accused the president of focusing more on political alliances than Nigeria’s economic hardship and insecurity. He also questioned the expansion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council. According to Atiku, the move suggests that the president cares more about gathering political figures than tackling the country’s problems.

Atiku shared his position in a statement released on Wednesday by Phrank Shaibu, director of strategic communication for the ADC presidential campaign council. He described the expanded APC campaign council as a “confession of fear.”

The criticism adds to the growing political debate over Tinubu’s leadership and approach to national challenges. However, the allegations from both opposition figures reflect their political positions and do not, on their own, establish wrongdoing by the president.
