President Bola Tinubu will receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) certificate of return and presidential flag on Sunday as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu had, in a nationwide primary conducted by the APC on Saturday, secured an overwhelming number of votes from party members, defeating his challenger, Stanley Osifo.
In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, the APC presidential primary elections committee will present the certificate and the flag to Tinubu at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
According to Onanuga, the APC governors and members of the party’s national executive committee and working committee will attend the event.
National assembly members and other party faithful are also expected to attend the occasion.
On Saturday, Tinubu commended APC governors for the conduct of the primaries across the states, saying that he is very satisfied with the process.
Speaking to journalists after participating in the process at Ward E in Ikoyi, Lagos, the president described the direct primary as “a demonstration of internal democracy.”
