Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi, a loyalist of Nasir El-Rufai, says Bola Tinubu will hand over power to the former Kaduna governor by May 29, 2027.
He made the remark while speaking to journalists at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, shortly after el-Rufai was granted bail.
Makarfi said el-Rufai is set to contest the 2027 presidential election, adding that preparations toward the bid are already underway.
“He will hand over to His Excellency Mallam Nasir el-Rufai by May 2027, and the journey has started,” he said.
The loyalist noted that the former governor’s presidential ambition is gaining momentum, signalling early political mobilisation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
His comment comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving el-Rufai, who was recently granted bail by the court over allegations of money laundering and fraud.
Should the former Kaduna governor throw his hat in the ring, he will jostle for the ticket of the African Democratic Party (ADC) with Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi.
