Tinubu will not be happy with Wike for attacking APC governors – APC Chief Farouk

President Bola Tinubu may not be pleased with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over his recent comments about APC governors.

APC chieftain Aliyu Farouk made the claim during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Thursday. Wike recently described some APC governors as “politically lazy.” He made the comment while defending his Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development followed a disagreement between Wike and the APC Governors’ Forum. The forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, rejected alliances that could weaken the APC. It also opposed any move that could affect Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. However, Wike said his coalition would support Tinubu at the presidential level.

Speaking on the issue, Farouk said the APC wants a unified campaign structure. He said the structure will operate at both national and state levels. According to him, APC governors will lead campaign activities in their states. According to Farouk:

“We cannot stop Wike from speaking the way he does.

But as a party, we resent that kind of comment.

We are not happy with the way he called our governors, and I’m sure Mr President will not be happy either.”

Meanwhile, Farouk questioned Wike’s claim about having an agreement with Tinubu. He said APC members were not aware of any such arrangement.

“If he said he had meetings or an arrangement with Mr President, well, we in the APC are not privy to that,” he said.

Farouk also urged APC members to avoid public arguments with Wike.

Wike, however, has maintained that his Rainbow Coalition supports Tinubu for president. He also wants opposition parties to challenge APC candidates in governorship and legislative races.
