The reaction came when Trump appeared on the arena’s giant screen during the national anthem before Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs won the game 115-111, cutting the Knicks’ series lead to 2-1.
Trump attended the match alongside his granddaughter Kai Trump, Knicks owner James Dolan, and several senior members of his administration. His visit triggered extensive security measures, leading to road closures, long queues, and heavy police presence around the venue.
The president’s appearance sparked mixed reactions. While some fans welcomed his attendance, many complained that the security restrictions disrupted travel, watch parties, and local businesses around Madison Square Garden.
