Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has confirmed that she and her husband, Bobby Maris, have gone their separate ways after eight years together. The actress broke the news through a series of emotional Instagram Story posts.
She said she had reached her limit and was no longer willing to remain in an unhappy marriage. According to her, women should also be free to admit when they are tired of a relationship without facing criticism.
Sharing her feelings, Uche wrote,
“For person to tire for marriage now nah taboo because nah woman? Must it always be man must taya? My tayad is tayad! I am tayad of the Princess wey dey marry me.”
She also questioned why wanting happiness should be seen as a crime.
“8 years of my life isn’t enough yet? Maybe I should give it 20 years or maybe 6 feet under before the crown of thorns can fit me well,” she added.
She later warned bloggers to verify their stories, saying,
“Ask for receipts. Cos I come correct with receipts.”
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram days earlier. Bobby also appeared to throw subtle shade online when he posted that not every woman deserves the crown of a wife. Shortly after, a leaked audio surfaced online.
In the recording, Uche questioned Bobby over his claim that he had gone out to work without getting paid. She dismissed his explanation and insisted she understood how entertainment jobs work. Around the same time, she shared posts about surviving a narcissist, further fueling public reactions.
The drama took another turn after Uche’s sister publicly defended her. She described Bobby as lazy and accused him of contributing nothing to the family while constantly provoking the actress. According to her, Uche’s only offence was choosing peace by walking away.
The separation surprised many fans because Uche had previously praised Bobby as her “heavyweight husband” and once said she could do anything for him. The couple, who traditionally married in Imo State in January 2023, share two children together.
