UK prosecutors have formally asked the United States to extradite Andrew and Tristan Tate. The brothers face dozens of charges in Britain, including rape and sex trafficking. US authorities received the extradition requests last week. The US State Department will first check whether they meet the UK-US extradition agreement.
The brothers have remained in a Florida jail since their arrest in July. A US court also rejected their recent request for bail. Their lawyer, Joe McBride, plans to challenge the extradition requests. He claims British authorities failed to provide key documents. McBride said the brothers have not received the requests or supporting papers.
The UK has filed 59 charges against the brothers. Andrew Tate faces 10 rape charges and three sex-trafficking charges. He also faces assault and child image-related charges. Tristan Tate faces five rape charges and three sex-trafficking charges. He also faces assault and sexual assault charges. Both men deny every allegation against them.
However, the extradition process is still far from over. The State Department will review the applications before sending them through the US Justice Department. A court will then make the final decision.
The Tate brothers previously faced sex-trafficking charges in Romania. They moved to the US in 2025 after Romanian authorities lifted their travel restrictions. Both brothers hold US and British citizenship. They became major online personalities after Andrew Tate appeared on Big Brother in 2016.
